Hi BrunneriaI think the presence of 'we skeptics'and the fact that self testing on bg is becoming more and more popular may help people to maintain their weight loss and overall control.
Which is brilliant.
There is also so much more understanding of how carbs (and their addictive qualities) affect us.
People are now in a better situation than they have ever been to handle the post-diet issues that may occur - so I see that as a hugely positive thing.
It is as though we are finally getting somewhere with bg, diet, carb and weight comprehension after decades of the LF Dark Ages.
I don't know if you've heard/read anything about it, but it seems that the Federal Government are cutting subsidised test strips for non-insulin dependent type 2's from July 1Hi Brunneria
Absolutely agree
Things in the Australian system including dietary advice are very similar to the UK NHS. The only big difference is type 2's are encouraged and subsidised to self monitor
This is a tremendous forum because of the experience and diverse views that have come from those experiences. I come here from Aussie because of those factors and don't dismiss contrary views but consider them when making the decisions that are right for me. The knowledge I have have picked up here in two months is more than in the previous three years since being diagnosed.
And you made me chuckle
Thanks

I appreciate you pointing that out. I was quite happy to post the whole lot as I was interested in feedback. Yes re diet after these results I told my Doctor that my biggest challenge was now to build a new diet based on LCHF. He suggested I see a Diabetic Dietitian I advised him that I couldn't afford that setback

also at Diabetes Daily - she produces LCHF diet plans - I have no connection with this just using it to lower my carb intake
I hadn't considered that. Good advice I think I might do the same. I will try a few other sources and organisations for more infoNot satisfactory at all - but typical of politicians
I'll admit, I've been stockpiling a bit trying to build up a reserve to carry me going for a few months afterwards. Then I'll need to decide whether it's worthwhile or economically viable to start self-funding. My current meter test strips are $60+ a box full price.
@muzza3 I am not going to be sorry for you, with weight loss of more than 1lb a week and fasting numbers like that. You seem to have achieved your goal.Just an update in week 3 LCHF
I have been getting a bit frustrated with "normal weight loss" of 1lb plus a week but have also being eating heaps.
I love nearly all meats, cheeses and dairy and salads are fantastic. Also used zucchini as a spaghetti replacement for the first time this week and it was great.
But I have decided to be more strict with my carbs this week to see what impact that has
FBG's have been great between 4.2 and 4.8 each morning over the last fortnight
