Seems like this thread is a success and more people who feel they can't say they struggle to loose weight will join in. Perhaps also it will stop some people saying " all you have to do is go low carb and you will loose weight" I myself have never been overweight my problem is keeping weight on and people saying to me "eat more fat "like that is suddenly the answer to all problems it is not the solution for me it is down to my metabolism not what food I eat.
I am sure this thread is going to make a lot of people feel happier when they can talk to others who can empathise with them and not feel a failure because they are not loosing weight
I think it is important to remember that this is first and foremost a diabetes forum. The advice to go low carb is primarily to help with BG levels, the fact that most people also lose weight on it is good and we would be wrong not to mention it to those people. I am delighted when it works for others even though it no longer works for me. What would also be wrong would be for us to say 'Well if it doesn't work for you for weight loss then you are not doing it properly' Most people try to offer further help when weight loss is still an issue... that's all we can do - do our best to help others. Likewise the advice to you to eat more fat is just that, someone trying to help you, if it doesn't work for you it doesn't mean they were wrong to mention it.Seems like this thread is a success and more people who feel they can't say they struggle to loose weight will join in. Yes of course I agree that LCHF should be advised and most people will try it but some people can be quite harsh about it and make it sound like anyone not loosing weight or like me not putting it on must be doing it all wrong and that is what can make people feel they can't talk about itI think it is important to remember that this is first and foremost a diabetes forum. Perhaps you could make another thread for those people like yourself who lose too much weight when low carbing?
I do not think there is a specific thread for those who find putting on weight a problem and I think people who have always been really slim and then loose weight that they do not need to when they go LCHF can find it very difficult to regain that weight.Interesting to get the perspective of someone who has difficulty keeping weight on.
I do seem to remember other members mentioning that from time to time, too. Can't quite remember who was involved. Not sure if someone started a thread for that yet. I guess some of us would like to swap metabolisms for a while? If only that were possible, eh? That would be a real insight into what difficulties others have.
We can only know what works for each of our individual unique circumstances. By sharing experiences we can, perhaps, give others ideas, and encouragement not to get too worn down.

Yes information and advice is important and we all need the support to find our own personal Holy Grail as one diet does not work for everyoneUnfortunately, there are people who like to decry any method of diabetes control if it doesn't suit them. I have had particular difficulty with Newcastle diet naysayers. We each need to gather as much information as we can, and use what works for us. Some of us have a more difficult time finding our personal 'holy grail' than others.
