Hi. Does anyone have any advice for getting from nutritional Ketosis to optimal Ketosis?

I've been trying really hard to get into Ketosis and today I tested and got a reading of 1 mmol/l. How do I take it to the next stage?

Thanks

I think you are in optimal ketosis, pretty much. I guess just keep doing what you're doing :)

Hi @Alineden , when are you testing? I am in ketosis but if I test in the morning my readings are around 1mmol, but testing in the evening readings are about 2.5mmol. If you want to get deeper ketosis then you have to look at everything you eat, and adjust to lower your carb level. I have found that by cutting out breakfast and just drinking coffee with cream in the morning helps.

You are there in nutritional ketosis already.. there's no point chasing numbers - if you are registering ketones then you are in a state of ketosis. I'm assuming you are using a blood ketone meter and not pee sticks?

Hi Bulkbiker. Yes using a meter and using My Fitness Pal to track what I'm eating.

Hi Rustypin. I've only tested once so far and that was teatime when I got in from work. I've been aiming for 5% carbs, 65% fat and 30% protein. I've kept the carbs at or less than 5% all week with the exception of 1 day where I had 7%. It also seems to be helping with liver dump. My blood/glucose first thing in the mornings has been in the 7's this week rather than the usual 8-9's.
