I read a lot of positive information on the keto diet. Consuming 6 carbs in the morning 12 at lunch and 12 at supper to better manage diabetes
I spoke to my diabetes educator on starting this and they are very apprehensive to accept it as they are concerned that other issues will arise on such a low intake of carbs
They recommend a higher carb intake daily of around 75
I have been a diabetic for a long time and have experienced some complications as a result of roller coaster sugars for a long time
I decided to meet in the middle and have reduced my carb intake substantially. I have lost 12 lbs in 6 weeks and feel better
I have had some issues with highs and more lows but need to get some professional help to better adjust my insulin requirements
I am wondering if there is anyone out there that Has started the full diet (Dr Bernstein’s recommended diet) and how they are doing with it? What issues did you encounter? Have you had any setbacks?
