Personal appearance. Isn't that her biggest selling point?
Yep. She is a beautiful woman who once tried to lecture Gary Taubes on 'the laws of physics' (calories in, calories out) but I like his recent point that you should look at unhealthy people who have gotten healthy as role models rather than naturally lean and healthy people who can 'eat in moderation' and do well on a high carb diet.

Sorry only heard him mention it anecdotally -Larry Kane show - YouTube Gary Taubes Trashes Jillian Michaels...He is a physics graduate!

Is it this one? Am gonna grab a coffee... brb.

Edited to add.

Jillian does not make a case, what she does is to use a few words that are unfamiliar to the layperson in quick succession to bamboozle that layperson. The host actually raises his hand to Taubes' face in an effort to quell any response. Debate? Not in the remotest.

Interesting. Thanks for the link. I recall learning some time ago that calorie restriction for weight loss can permanently slow the BMR.
After numerous low calorie diets during my lifetime I could probably hibernate if pushed.
Eating a small amount seems to trigger a slowdown - two meals a day seems to keep my energy levels up. Not eating turns my normally pink appearance to a shade of pale grey which can be quite alarming to those who know me.

I hated that show - down right cruel and seeing people bullied and belittled somehow has never appealed to me

The only show of that nature that I could tolerate was one where the personal trainer had to put on weight and lose their fitness level so there health and weight was comparable to the contestan's and then train with the person to regain both their fitness levels it became a learning process for both trainer and contestant.

I think it's what has caused my metabolism to slow down to a crawl. I have been very careful with my diet for 10 years, lower calories as a result of lower carbs (not high fat) for last 5 years.

If anyone makes such statements thet need to be able state their relevant credentials and evidence.
That is absent from the newsbite and the evidence i have seen regarding successful keepig iff if weightbig loser contestants inthe years after, from documentaries shows them having to maintain a rigorous exercuse program forever after.
Until their joints give out.

Errrm ...in a word - ********! But probably a terribly terribly GOOD idea?? I (respectfully!) believe that the lady is spouting a load of old codswallop. slim figure notwithstanding.

As I understand it ketosis is a perfectly natural state and I've certainly done far better healthwise eating a low carb/ketogenic diet than I ever did when I was expected to stuff my face with plate loads of carb heavy foods. And the only time I ever tried a calorie restricted diet, I ended up fairly quickly putting back more weight than I'd actually lost. But more weight :rolleyes:literally:rolleyes: fell off me eating very low carb, in spite of me being older, mucn less active, and getting up off my bum far more infrequently than with my previous attempt - and most importantly that weight's stayed off for over five years now... Ms Michaels - GO FIGURE!

I know I tend to refer to my grandson a lot but here we go he has been following a keto diet for some while now for the last few months he has been 17 stone at the gym the other day many people were remarking on how much weight he has lost even though he has not lost any he is still 17 stones all that has changed is due to his diet what little fat he had has been replaced by muscle making him appear slimmer

So he is doing very well on a keto diet and he has become one very knowledgeable expert on nutrition.
