Hello,

Is there a ketogenic clinic in the South East?
I need to be hospitalised to do proper ketogenic diet for weight loss due to extreme weight accumulation.

thanks

disappointed because I cannot commit to a diet, it's very hard

Please don't be disappointed. Some of us are battling with more than just one condition which can make things doubly hard. I do not know of keto clinics but my first port of call would be the GP/DN or Psych Nurse if there is one in your Practice. Best wishes, hope you find a path that works for you.

Edited typo.

It helps if you find things within the dietary range which you enjoy eating. If it feels like a treat, tastes like a treat... (Fatbombs for instance! Bacon!) It makes it easier to commit to a diet. I'm a borderliner; one of the components is that I get cravings that can last for days and it really, honestly, feels like the fate of the world depends on having that particular food. Not quite obsessive, but close. Realising it is an illness making you feel that way, to me anyway, makes it easier to let it go and dismiss it altogether. The world won't end if I skip sushi and stick with meat and veggies. Remarcably enough. ;) In any case, find meals and snacks which fall into the keto range which you enjoy. Drink loads of water (or tea, coffee...) to keep a full feeling. Same with fats; have plenty. If you're satiated, it might help. I have no clue about keto clinics, as I'm Dutch, but just so you know, it can be done. Being mentally ill doesn't mean you can't per definition make this work. Find out what obstacles you face, and figure out a way around them.
Good luck!
Jo

Hello Rabdos,
I hope you manage your way through this. It is a case of taking things gradually, one small step at a time. Try just modifying your diet slightly like adding more eggs and olive oil and cutting down a slice or two of bread and some potatoes at first.
Lower carb will be some help initially.

I'm sorry you feel disappointed, making and sticking to you changes is tough enough without other health challenges. You're reaching out now, which is really positive.

As far as I can ascertain, there are not Keto clinics or hospitals in the UK. There are private weight loss retreats you could go to but they may not support the keto diet.

Do you have people around who can support you in your journey?
