This may be a good resource for those suffering from lung conditions that are non-responsive to steroids, with particular reference to COPD as the podcast host is COPD patient.

The site is COPD Athlete: https://copdathlete.com/

The COPD Wellness Podcast has some guests some will already be familiar with from the keto world, like Dr Stephen Phinney, Dr Dominic D'Agostino, as well as well-known Pulmonary researchers:

Only just found this resource and busily catching up because of my IPF.

Interesting read @Indy51, I have had a COPD for about twenty five years.

I have reasonable control with the inhalers I use, plus I have a oxygen bottle for when it gets a bit smokey.

You might find Episode 5 to be the most useful to you as it's an interview with Professor Peter Barnes who is apparently the No. 1 researcher on COPD.

For me Episode 7 was particularly interesting as it was a 3 way interview with a lot of discussion about the ketogenic diet and the role of BOHB in regulation of systemic inflammation.

@Indy51 I would not think changing to a keto diet would help me with my emphysema, as the damage was done years ago when I was a heavy smoker.

I wish I could get new air bags in my body, like I had when my truck was recalled to get new ones fitted.

Just a suggestion. I know it sounds weird but keto seems to have worked well for the program host - COPD after childhood asthma and smoking. Interviews I've heard with D'Agostino says it's protective for hypoxia (low oxygen) as well as the anti-inflammatory effects which seem to reduce exacerbations.

The host is based in Brisbane, I believe. He said the only time he seems to need oxygen these days is when he flies - something to do with the pressure I guess? And hasn't had any major exacerbations since going on the diet. The reason he decided to try the diet was a series of lung infections that would clear up, only to come back again.

What a great read. Thank you for sharing. I am doing a paper on The Ketogenic Diet and a few of its health benefits. I had no idea it could have an effect on COPD. I have been doing the diet for a few months now and feel all around amazing. I love knowing it is doing wonders for my body.
