    Hello ,

quite recently my son has been waking up with keytones in the morning,

he will have supper around 7.30pm then that will be it till around 7.30am

this morning he woke up with a reading of 1.7 ketones but a blood sugar reading of 6.2.

we gave him his breakfast then around an hour after his breakfast we tested his ketones and they where down to 0.4

would the high readings in the mornings be down to him fasting for 12 hours? is he getting ketones due to the body breaking down his fat cells ???

    Yeah, very likely fasting ketones....

You might expect to see higher fasting ketones in kids as they are growing faster and the brain needs the ketones as fuel overnight...

    These are perfectly normal....
