Type 1 Ketones

Any idea why you have ketones?

Are you eating? Are you eating low carb? Are you otherwise ill?

Yes I'm eating a low carb diet, do you think it could be that? X

If you're very low carb it's probably nutritional ketosis. Which is nothing to be concerned about - it just means your body is being fueled by fat.

Being worried is strong word but at 2,8 its high, regardless of BG level....

I am not an expert on ketosis but I wouldn't expect them to get that high with ketosis....

as ketones need insulin too I would suggest you need insulin to get the levels down....

Nutritional ketosis is 0.5-3 . OPs level of 2.8 is within that.

If ketones are caused by using fat as a fuel (OP has confirmed she's low carbing) - which would be expected with a carb intake anything less than 80g daily, certainly less than 20g - rather than being caused by insufficient insulin then taking insulin to correct nutritional ketones won't do anything about the ketones and will just cause hypos.
