Hi . im posting here because you are all to familiar with ketones !

im a type type 2 but have had dka ( rare I know)

past few days ive been getting Ketones in my urines going up as far as 3+++ … this morning i had a trace now I have again 3+++ but when i check with my meter its only .3 of ketones ..

Has this happened to anyone.. the urine sticks are in date…
I have sought medical advice on the ketones and because its not over .6 on the meter to keep an eye on it also to look out for signs of nausea etc etc
 
Urine and blood ketones are different... so the measurements are not the same.
Ketones in the urine are acetoacetate and are measured by the urine test sticks .
A blood ketone monitor measures beta hydroxybuturate levels in the blood.

That's why your results are different.

At least that's my understanding.
 
Have you been advised to monitor your ketones? As a type 1, I would never check them unless my blood sugars were over 13 mmol/l for a continuous period of time and I was ill, which for me is never, presently.

yes - ive been asked to keep an eye on them … my bg’s continuously over 16 and cant get them down. . i normally dont get them unless im ill and on steroids .. but they have since appeared again in the last week and are not resolving… on urine sticks its im getting more and more 3+++ but my blood meter is saying im fine
