Hi,
I have been taking Metformin since about 2 years now and have had some additional medications added to my list.
-
Desmopressin 120microgram oral lyophilisates sugar free (As required if nasal spray doesn't work)
Desmospray 10micrograms/dose nasal spray (Ferring Pharmaceuticals Ltd)
These are to treat Diabetes insipidus, which I have had since the approximate age of 4 years old.
Gliclazide 40mg tablets
Metformin 850mg tablets
Ramipril 10mg capsules
Simvastatin 40mg tablets
I have within the last 2 months experienced pain in my elbows and also pain in my kneees. I was previously on Sitagliptin 100mg which was prescribed to me by the diabetic nurse at the GP. I was taken off this medication due to some severe pain in my joints to the point where I was in hospital on the 24th of December of this year. I ended up on crutches and having been prescribed anti-inflamatory. My specialist has replaced the Sitagliptin with Gliclazide as of January, however the joint pains keep persisting - not as bad as when I was on the Sitagliptin.
I am concerned that there is some problem with the medication that I am taking that is leading to this "joint" pain in my elbows / knees. I have not had this previously and I was wondering if anyone else who may be taking the above medications has experienced this also? If so, what was the solution?
I do not check my blood sugars as I have not been instructed to do so, however my last blood work up showed a HbA1c of "65" - not sure if that is good or not?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
