I just read this on the BBC website

Lactic acid is a by-product when the muscles use carbohydrates to create energy for exercise. Lactic acid then breaks down into hydrogen ions and lactate, and it's the hydrogen ions that cause the pain.

Do the same thing happen to low carbers taking strenuous exercise?

Yes if you're exercising at high intensity (like sprinting, at >90% of your max heartrate)

No if you're exercising at low intensity (like running a marathon, at <70% of your max heartrate).

Low carb is great for endurance, but bad for high-intensity exercise.

The whole "lactic acid" thing is a bit of a myth anyway. Modern theories put exhaustion down to glycogen depletion.

A great way to burn belly fat fast is with a lactic acid workout. Lactic training is a form of exercise were you train with the sole purpose of getting your body to produce lactic acid. This is done with fairly intense and short burst exercises, such as squats with very small rest periods.
