Large battered Cod and mushy peas.

I had a wonderful battered cod and chips at the Blist Victorian Village in Telford recently, all cooked in beef dripping the traditional way. Scrumptious.
I think the fat cooked in can make a huge difference.
We have been firm believers that deep frying should be done with beef dripping.

Out local butcher has beef dripping on sale that they have rendered down at a reasonable price.

Battered cod & a few of hubby’s chips last week resulted in BS level of 18.5. This week any carbs are pushing me above 16 with the highest being 22. Low carbs (milk in coffee and a daily apple) is letting me achieve between 9-12 most days. My morning fasting levels are mostly 10. So I am in awe of your post cod and mushy pea BS levels.

Maybe you should have had the mushy pees!!

A lot depends on where you get the mushy peas from. Chip shops buy them in, and they often have sugar added, and in some chip shops they are a lurid green so goodness knows what is added to those. We make our own from dried marrowfat peas just like grandma did, nothing added except water.

Home made mushy peas, now that sounds interesting.
