Last meal of the day and fbg

Are your fbg higher than you would like or expect them to be?

Higher fbg can be due to the Dawn Phenoma (Liver dump) and has little to do with what was eaten the evening before.
You probably know what a Liver Dump is but just in case, this is a normal process that happens just before we wake or as we wake. The liver dumps glucose into the bloodstream to give us the energy to start our day. This can gappen any time during the day when we hhavn't eaten for a few hours such as when we sleep. Where the problem lies for we with T2 is the liver can dump a little too much glucose for too long causing raised levels which we see on our meters. Hope this helps.

Any idea what we can do about this? Talked about this yesterday but in the 8s again this morning.

The fbg is the last to come down and can be tricky. Some people will eat something small as soon as they wake (after testing of course). A creamed coffe, a small amount of nuts or a square of cheese etc just to stop the levels rising throughout the morning. I take a creamed coffee as soon as I can but as I do not take fastingreadings any more I am not sure if it works for me personally. It can take weeks or even months for the fbg to come down
When you think of it, our liver's have been used to dumping so much glucose for years, sometimes decades so it stands to reason that it would take some time for the liver to adjust.
