Not being able to like beer anymore!!
Just got my latest HBA1C results ... 34 Down from 36 back in August.
Also, triglycerides down to 1.3 from 2.1
HDL up to 1.9 from 1.3

I've got a GP appointment on Thursday to discuss in detail, but I'm very happy with those results.

I've had a bourbon biscuit to celebrate.

Very well done, congrats! What is your current regime, still LC and if so, how strict? If you're still on meds, as per your profile, you'll probably be able to reduce or get off them (when you see your GP)

Thanks for the interest! I should have changed the meds on my profile. I stopped taking the statins as soon as I started LCHF last year and halved my metformin to a single tablet per day. GP still hasn't "signed off" on those changes so that's something we'll discuss tomorrow. Actually it's a new GP so I don't even know if he's aware of what I'm doing.

I am still pretty strict, although maybe not quite as rigid. I set a limit of 30g carbs per day which I was very strict about. I still have that as a target but I'm not bothered if it goes to 50g sometimes.

Apparently some people regain their insulin sensitivity when they lose weight and get bloods back to normal range, but that's not happening for me at the moment. I experimented with a sausage roll last week and saw my 2 hour BG doubled! I think I'm resigned to being LCHF for life now, just with occasional treats.

At my last appointment my GP asked me if I wanted a new prescription for Metformin, and I told him not to bother, as I rarely take the stuff I have at home now. He said "well you know best, and I can't argue with the results"

I found 2 small slices of Rye bread in the freezer this morning when I was looking for a Triangle, so decided to eat them instead to test the reaction. 2 slices, less than 25g each (20g Carbs total) resulted in a 8.4 result after 2 hours.

Cured ??

I'd be so lucky.

I saw the GP this morning. Thankfully he's on board with LCHF and is happy with my blood glucose management.

He's less happy with my cholesterol. My LDL has risen to 4.5 (last time 3.5) Total cholesterol has risen to 7.0 (5.8). My HDL/Total ratio is 3.7 (4.5) and trig/HDL is 1.5 (0.6). So trigs & HDL seem to be in the right place but LDL isn't.

He'd like me to start taking statins again but I'm resisting that. I'm going to vary the type of fats I eat - more olive oil & fish, less cream & cheese. I'll even see if I can get into avocados again (I went right off them). If I can get a better fat balance that will hopefully sort the LDL. He's agreed to that and we'll test again in the summer.

Unfortunately @GeoffersTaylor I havent my cholesterol breakdown but my total is 4.4 which has been steady for years. All through my diagnosed diabetic years (15yrs).
Lchf diet hasn't increased my total cholesterol.
I try and walk as much as possible. I find for me keeps my cholesterol down.
I have been offered statins at my last gp appointment due to my specialist advising he does so.
When I queried 'why' he said it's to protect me long term as the build up is what causes the damage. My specialist would like it in the 3s for diabetics.
I'm in 2 minds whether to take them. I'm going to walk more, spring is coming (daffs out) and I always add weight in winter.
I look forward to your next results. :)

Great reduction on triglycerides. I think your idea on better fats should help. At least worth a try.
