Latest full blood test results

I am soooo happy, it's my first blood tests since diagnosis results and it could not be any better.

HbA1c = 5.5% (down from 11.1%)

Cholesterol = 3.5% (down from 4.5%)

Kidneys stayed the same at 68.

And nearly 1.5 stone lighter.

Thanks to this website and everyone on it... Low carbing, high fat is working a treat.

When you received the results did the nurse or doctor say anything to you? Do they know you are low-carbing?
 
I phones up for the results from the receptionists (they know me) I was told if all ok I would not hear, good huh! But she said it wa great and how did I do it, so I told her, I expect I will get an appointment soon anyways as its it's over 3 months now, but I did see my doc before blood test and he was happy with my own test results and he knows I am low carbing.

My DN is not a low carb supporter, but these results should tell her. :D

I have to have a blood test next month but not sure if I have to fast. All that is on the form is gold. Does anyone know if I should fast or not?

I did not fast for mine, the receptionist was impressed by that...
 
If it's just an HbA1c test, then whether you fast or not will make zero difference to the results of the test, as it reflects blood conditions over a period of several months leading up to the test. Howerver, they often take blood at the same time for other tests which may require fasting so you need to check.

Makes sense, she did mention something about a number that was slightly high, but irrelevant as not being used.

I know, only after 3 months too, (even with my slightly out of control moments). But just proves that with low carb, testing regularly and good control it can be done. I know every one is different and it effects everyone in a different way, but I am sure it can only be a good thing.

I got my results on 1st August whcih were all good, and the DN asked what meds I was on. ( been with this same DN for the last 2 1/2 years) and I said I was on no meds, just excercise and a LCHF diet, and she just looked at me as if I had 2 heads. Sometimes I say to myself, really, what is the point of going to this person.
