I had my annual blood tests last week at local hospital, and phoned surgery for my HbA1c result this afternoon. I wasn't sure what to expect as for a while my annual results have tended to be up slightly, mainly due to various non-diabetic health reasons. However, a few months back I started to drink green tea - which was supposed to help with my recent arthritis - but this just seems to have lowered my usual glucose levels if nothing else... Even so I was still a little surprised to be presented with my lowest ever HbA1c of 38.

I'm a long-term and dedicated low carber: I was told to avoid sugar on diagnosis at the end of November 2013, and dropped from my initial HbA1cs of 61-62 to a pre-diabetic 47 by Feb 2014. Since then I've refined my regular low carb normal full fat/ketogenic style diet, and indulge in some irregular fasting (known to me over 60 years ago in my teenage days as a rather frowned upon behaviour of "skipping breakfast") and these now keep me at lowish pre-diabetic/high normal levels. But I'm currently still somewhat overweight and no longer at all active.

Congratulations on the results. Your dedication has payed off . I might give the green tea a try and see if I get a reduction in my bg's. You'd never know .

Congratulations @Robbity2
Can I ask how much green tea you have? I've been drinking it for years, not for any particular reason, just because I like it. I only have a cup occasionally, when I fancy one, but if it helps it would be no hardship to drink more.

I've generally been drinking 3-4 mugs a day, replacing my usual selection of herbal, etc, teas which I prefer!

I just found this: https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/98/2/340/4577179
