Since I've been on LCHF my fat mass has gone up a lot. Is that ok? Also I don't really eat a lot of fat really. Not as much as it says you can have. Is that ok ?

What do you mean by "fat mass"?

My scales measure your over all body fat as a percentage

So, what are your stats then? I'm assuming you get weight, BMI, fat and muscle percentages? And obviously to make sense of it, start and now figures.

Who manufactured your scales?

They are withings body analiser scales

Ah. They're not a brand I'm familiar with. I have a Omron Body Composition Monitor, like these, http://www.athleteshop.co.uk/omron-...karadka-skan?gclid=CMWAsO7ursMCFQsUwwodYqwArw

I don't know the definitive answer to your question, but as your BMI is illustrated as coming down (how much weight have you lost now?), I would suggest the percentage thing is a shorter term anomaly caused by losing some water as part of the early weight loss process. In other words, as you lose water (and some fat, but early loss is always influenced by water loss), proportionately there will be a higher percentage of fat in your body, because there's a lower percentage of water.

Looking at the plotted graph, as opposed to the smoothed trend, where does your weight loss track with the plotted readings?

I would carry on, committing to at least a further month, then review it again.

I've lost 7lb in 3 weeks and measurement round my middle has gone from 119cm the 113cm

I'm **** at this stuff is this good you think

I'd say that in reality it's probably too early to be definite, but I'd be astonished if you were losing 7lbs, and 6cm on your waist, but had got fatter. In another month you'll have had more readings and a better trend to look at.

If you understand what I'm saying about losing water will mean there's a higher percentage of fat to total body weight, hopefully you'll be comfortable moving forward. It's a bit like semi-skimmed, and skimmed milk having more carb, per 100ml than full fat milk. That's not because anything has been added, it's because f what's left when the fat is removed from that initial 100ml. 100ml of semi-skimmed and skimmed milk starts off as more than 100ml, so that it will be 100ml when just the fat is removed. Get it?

Yes I think I do. But I assume that loosing size and weight is positive and maybe ignore the other factors for now.

Patience of a saint AB :)

Turvell, you have lost over 3 kilos over your recent journey or one kilo a week. That is great !!! Continue ....

I agree with AB and Mike D, The weight loss and drop in size proves you are losing weight. The initial water loss at the start of any diet is due to the sugar that is held suspended in the liver. The body uses this for fuel first, Once this has been used it then turns to burning fat. Your body has to get used to using fat instead of sugar to function.

Not from me Turvell. Mike has commented a few times before on how patient I seem to be. The user name gives the impression, but I can be irritated enough to tear up trees, just like the best of them.
