LCHF and Stool (there's no way to be delicate!)

No garlic? I love garlic. I've added a clove each dinner meal when i fry my veg.

Also, given an increase to my meat intake on LCHF, is there such a thing as too much meat when it comes to gut health?

If you are having acid reflux of any description the garlic, tomatoes, onion should go. A garlic tablet each may be tolerated..providing it says a non odourless type...

I had full blown erosive stomach gastritis... and some acid started due to that... since stopping the food listed as suggested by my gastro chap I have had no problems at all.. took about a month to come good again. I cannot tolerate tablets like omeprazole or POI's such as gaviscon.. and heck why should I have to take extra meds due to my stomach just not tolerating certain foods. Far better and cheaper to stop those foods. I still have pesto n cream cheese so this is just as good as garlic and tomatos!!

I still have oil oil of oregano and garlic for my bloods because I cant eat onion and garlic... what I dont spend on p e food I aoend on other food or tablets that I can tolerate and dont harm my stomach.

If anybody is having reflux or acid.... it is a warning that your stomachs dont like the foods you are eating... and easily sortable instead of adding tablets and medicines with more side effects etc.

My gastroenteroligist quite happy with leaving me with adjusted eating rather than meds with side effects... x

Have a google for 'flax seed cracker' recipes. They are usually low carb, very easy and delicious.

Regarding the protein, I think that yes, you can have too much. Although it depends a great deal on the person.

LCHF isn't a high protein diet.
It is a normal protein, low carb, high fat way of eating. So if you think you may be eating too much protein, then reduce the meat portions and replace them with more veg and fat. That way you still feel satisfied, bowel health is improved, and it is easier to maintain ketosis (if ketosis is the aim).

My experience is that I have actually reduced the protein on LCHF ketogenic eating, and feel better for it.

Are pro biotic drinks any good?

I've read that too much dairy can be counter productive, and that adding fibre on top of a constipated bowel isn't advisable either. Can anyone confirm?

I need to get this sorted out, I'm really clogged up I think and its giving me some cramp. But I'm eating all the right veg.

Can also be riotous. Gastroenterology study suggests than half the amount in a normal capsule per day in at least 8 oz. liquid

You can experiment with tiny amounts of the raw stuff available in Indian and Pakistani stores
I prefer to have mine in any one of the diet doctor bread recipes that have it as an ingredient.

I can confirm that for me I cannot have fibre... no more than 12g a day..

Majority of people are told to eat more fibre, but if you are already eating lots if fibre and constipated it could be that you need to lower your fibre.

An absolute guaranteed way to..... move things along.... is a meal that has a good helping of Brussels sprouts - and then a good helping of rhubarb for dessert.

Not always!! Some people will not be able to digest brussels or rhubarb!!

There are a lot of persons that have gastro intestinal failure of some sort and tge foods you are suggesting would not be tolerated at all!! They would land me in A&E!!

The only fiber I tolerate is vegetable, nut and avocado.

Never psyllium, flax, chia etc. I'm cramping just thinking about it haha

It even veggies with thick skins or seeds like cucumber, zucchini etc

Same as @Kristin251.
Cucumber has to have skin off it, same with courgette!!

Only thing I can now tolerate is four teaspoon of flaxseed in 6 tall glasses of smoothie.

Leafy veg is absolutely a no go!!

My salad is a skinned cucumber and avocado!! Thats it!!

I do have mashed veg though... softish veg which is why I am not very low carb any more..

Nut annoys me, and broccoli as it just comes out of me whole as I swallowed it, but I have to eat overcooked, mashed broccoli everyday because of anaemia!!

I used to make what I called broccoli or cauliflower mash. Well cooked then blended with broth or water. Froze in muffin Tins. Can be used as soup base too. Just throw some protein in. Make as thick or thin as you like. The blender kind of does my chewing so easier to digest.

Yup, dark leafy greens are tough. I do steam kale until very soft and eat literally a tablespoon at a time. Lettuce needs to be portioned as well. All veggies actually. I tolerate about a quarter cup mixed veggies but cooked very well.

I keep thinking of smoothies with veggies and avocado but wondering how it would effect bs given everything is broken down already and would speed digestion. Have you tried it?

But the OP doesn't have your digestive problems. This is a thread about his digestion issues.

You do not know what is causing the OP digestive problems... Rather than going along with others of more fibre (w high seems not to be working for the OP) than like Kristin251 and me, it may be time to try mushy veg and lower fibre.

Everybody is different and if one thing does not work, then try something different for a week!

Yes, tried with coconut milk, avocado, berries and avocado and ok.... But I do bolus 30 mins early for it. It is definitely a planned brunch...

If planned, OK. Tesco do frozen avocado and I use these....any berries, just trying to get variety. I make enough for 6 tall glasses and we have over 3 days. It's the only way I can eat spinach, which I get group zen from Waitrose in round solid blocks...

Keep up your fluid intake. Water and more water, if constipated then take at least 3 - 4 l of water. That'll sort it.

Water does not always help digestive probs, sometimes more fat does!

It depends what is the cause of the constipation. If it's actually bad stomach/colon rather than fibre or water then you are talking about a totally different ball game!!
