LCHF Diet with heart condition

Hi Folkes just a quick question. Is there any type 2s on the forum that have a heart condition e.g Angina, Stents, CHD etc etc . and follow a LCHF diet ?

Hi, there are quite a few of us who have on-going heart conditions or have had by-passes etc, I guess your question would be does the higher fat content mean a rise in cholesterol........for me in short.....no....in fact after my 2nd cholesterol test they said my numbers had improved to the point I could lower my statin dose and since then its been halved again, I am hoping that after my next test they will say I can stop them altogether as its a bit on the low side for a lady of my age....
The change I made was to go onto Full Fat.

Yes @gunner10 . Even cardiac specialist are recommending high GI carbs are no benefit to heart health. The general view now is everything in moderation. Including salt.

I don't know if AF counts? Anyway, my cardiologist is happy with me doing LCHF as her view is that nothing is so damaging as high blood sugar.

Hi Gunner, Some of us lose too much weight on lchf and if muscle is lost (the heart is muscle) you may need to modify what micronutrients you require? I have complex heart problems that were not caused by diet, smoking or anything I had control over. Just keep walking without too much vogorous exercise and eat a balanced lowish carb diet. D.

I have A Fib as well, and on a modified lchf diet.
