LCHF diet

I think I'm coming around to the idea of a more liquid breakfast. I've always had an aversion to liquid based meals. Silly psychology really but it doesn't feel like food to me.

Still I must highlight I've not come here for advice on how to lower my already very low carb intake. My dietician has said I should be OK with up to 80g per day which I don't usually reach. If I do I suffer - this tells me it's not my efforts it's my treatments. It doesn't matter what type of diabetes you have you should be able to eat SOME complex carbs. This is where energy comes from. As I have said - even ketogenic diet blogs and sites warn about the dangers of limiting carbs too much.

If you chose to eradicate carbs completely by choice that's fine and an individual's perogative - but it shouldn't be necessary to have such extreme restrictions in managing diabetes.

If you have to limit your carbs so severely due to hyperglycaemia then I would recommend speaking to your care team. You may have been misdiagnosed and have LADA or your meds may need to be increased.
I don't take meds, I am not diagnosed, I just have glucose metabolism issues that fall into the grey area they call pre diabetes.

I embrace LCHF purely for selfish reasons. It makes me feel better to flatline my glucose response to food and keeps my stomach a lot calmer.

Hopefully it will keep me away from a diagnosis somewhere down the road.

Three months ago the thought of LCHF mortified me. The reality is, it's better for me and I'm not limited for choice, I eat like a king most evenings and really enjoy a daily glass of red with dinner.

Each to their own, I was just suggesting something quick and convenient for you.

Errr.. just no... there are no essential carbohydrates.. you may choose to eat some but please don't try and tell those of us who don't want to that we are wrong.

At no point have I said you are wrong. I am myself following LCHF. Which is different from no carb HF. I said it is your perogative.

However Resurgem did succeed in making me feel bad for this which is terribly unsupportive and not in keeping with the attitude and values of the magority of responses and interactions I've had on this site. It's also ridiculous since I clearly am in keeping with LCHF. I have just had concerns about cholesterol that's all. I wanted to know other''s experience of this. My one wholemeal wrap has absolutely nothing to do with cholesterol!!!

If you read what you wrote and I quoted you mention "the dangers of limiting carbs to much". There are no dangers. That is the point I am making.. as I said if you want to eat more carbs then feel free but please don't come here scaremongering. We are all trying to help you by sharing what we have learnt over time. It is up to you what you decide to do with what we share.

Ah but you are wrong there. HDL, the good cholesterol, is depleted by carbs. The less carbs you eat the higher your HDL will be. Your one wholemeal wrap might, MIGHT, make a difference along with the other carbs you are eating.

I highly doubt that it will. Plus I don't eat other carbs (for the umpteenth time).

Again this post is about LOW CARB not NO CARB. I've asked for experience of cholesterol on LOW CARB. If it makes me as argumentative and agregeous as what I'm experiencing here I have absolutely no interest in going no carb. I find it astonishing that people suffering a metabolic condition such as diabetes - where there is little choice in the matter - could be so unsupportive and mean to others going through the same. It's not easy adjusting to a low carb diet if you have a busy lifestyle and low budget. Why are you now trying to make me feel bad. Jesus. What is this? Please leave me alone.
 
Please can this thread get back on track. This forum supports all dietary choices and one of the rules stresses we should respect others choices.

We are all individuals.

No-one is trying to make you feel bad, least of all me. I just pointed out that carbs deplete HDL, so the lower your carbs the better your HDL will be.

You have had a lot of response to the cholesterol question. To summarise, most of us see a significant improvement on LCHF. I did, and saw another good improvement when I went very low carb and very high fat. A few find their cholesterol does go up a bit. Read back and see these responses for yourself.
