Lchf help. Gaining weight!!

??
How do you know you're eating that many cals, if you aren't counting them?
The tool I'm using for checking carbs and energy percentage automatically calculates the cals, but i don't really care about them, aiming to eat at least 85 E% fat and less then 10 g carbs per day.

So you are weighting and measuring all your food, and not eating an unlimited amount, as you seem to say you're consistent daily.

I'm a +45 woman and we generally have a harder time loosing weight compared to men and younger women, to many hormones either starting paying up or already playing up.

I'm measuring yes, most days, but not limiting myself (record my intake afterwards and feel satiety and pleasure with what I'm eating. At the moment I want to loose weight so I feel satisfied doing it this way.

I am 66. I'm afraid I had to calorie count as well as carb count. I have successfully lost all but 4 stones without stalling at all since January. When I reached goal I really did need to calorie count because I couldn't stop losing weight. By upping my calories without upping my carbs I am now more or less stable, but it has been a struggle to find the correct amount of calories from fat for maintenance.. I couldn't have done any of that without calorie counting. But that's just me. Others may be different.

I find satiety comes with habit.
I felt satiety eating 3000+ calories, with a change of mindset I felt satiety eating 1200 calories, now I have satiety on about 2000 calories. I adjust for exercise.

I think you said you're using bran for fibre - it's apparently very high carb, chuck it and try flaxseed instead, and plenty of green leafy veggies.

I found that when I was losing weight, it would appear to be going up and down by two or three kilos a day sometimes, before settling down as a bit of weight loss. Initially you're losing a lot of retained fluid.

@Robbity morning. Thanks for this...its oat bran I was using. But I'll get some flaxseed as you all recommend it...its so helpful when people tell me about what they found about weight loss on lchf.
Hi again, @alliebee:) As you are in Northants you may have already paid a visit to The Daily Bread shop, they sell a lot of healthy products etc; there self bagged Flax-seed ( linseed ) is very reasonably priced, but you have have to grind it your self in some kind of coffee grinder or similar device.
Here is there link:Daily Bread wholesome food | DailyBread.co.uk
Some of there goods are very well priced and some a little ott, yet a pleasant visit due to parking and a small garden centre. We go there once a month.

How lovely thankyou! I may well visit this weekend. I've not been. In fact I didn't know about it. I've got an old coffee grinder too. Whoop! You guys are the most helpful and kind to take the trouble to help people...only hope I can do the same as I become more knowlegeable :)

You will.
:)

Dozy tip for the day: don't do as I did this afternoon when grinding some pecan nuts in my coffee grinder - I don't know what I was thinking of, but I took the top off while the blade was still spinning, and ended up with a nut strewn worktop.:wideyed::wideyed::p

Fortunately I get my flaxseed ready milled otherwise who knows what my kitchen might look like!

PS All this talk of flaxseed made me remember a few years backwhen many of the farmers around this area were growing linseed for crops, and the flowers are a beautiful blue - the fields were a real wonder to behold, it looked as if the sky had come down to cover the ground. Much prettier than our usual bright yellow fields of rape.

Well week 3 done! Happy to announce that morning weigh in is a total of ten pounds lost over the 3 weeks! Despite my panic over a weird gain which as you all said. Would sort itself out. It did. I'm really happy though with my bs. It was in the teens last month! So glad I came back to the forum. My daytime average is 6.2. Morning its higher but under double figures now. Lchf works so well

flaxseed is good and has about 2g digestible carb 27 undigestible carb/fibre
oat bran is about the same ratio, about 6g digestible carb and about 80g undigestible carb/fibre

Thanks for writing that about the oatbran too @jack412, didn't know that either.
I haven't used it yet. I tried diet whey the other week, which has flaxseed in it, but had bad stomach cramps on the 2nd day and felt quite ill for a few days.
Not identified why or what caused this, so waiting to feel better before I try anything new again. Don't want to blame the wrong thing, especially when it might be something helpful to diabetes.
serves you right, for buying tree hugges tucker :) how much is diet whey a friggin kilo?
