Thanks @Rab having salt water already and will try some magnesium.Take magnesium supplements and salt!
Metformin is also knowen to cause problems with B12 deficiencies. Which can cause muscle pain.Hi all started LCHF 3 weeks ago and its going great with just one slight drawback I'm getting leg cramps. My hamstrings feel like I have run a marathon, now and again cramp in calf. Also backs of knees ache.
I'm on 18/6 fasting no food between 20.00 and 14.00 next day only black tea or coffee, water and vitamin water during fast. Aim for >20% carbs. My Bs have come down from 16.6 to average 5.8 with some 4.5 to 5.5 readings in last week.
I've cut back drastically on my alcohol intake and upped my water intake. I'm on 2x500 gm Metformin and 2x80gm Glicazade twice a day. I know a side effect of Metformin can be leg cramps but been on this dose for years with no problems.
I do not add any salt to my food but have started to have a couple of glasses of salt water to see if this helps with the cramps and aches.
I understand that my body needs to get use to the changes, but its making walking my dog a little unpleasant with the aches.
Any Ideas peeps?
