So today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. I am going to fast over the six week Lent period until Easter. I have done this a couple of times before. It was quite hard then as I was working in a fairly physically demanding job. I think it will be easier this time as I am retired, and also because I have been more or less fasting since I was diagnosed, not eating much during the day.

I will be drinking water, tea and coffee during the day, but not eating until after sunset (around 5pm), though I actually probably won't be eating until after 7pm. When I did this before I would lose about 7lbs, but then put it on again over the next 3-4 months. I hope to lose up to 14lbs this time, but 7lbs will be ok.

Is anyone else intending to give up something for Lent?

People who think they know everything.
I think I'm going to give up pork scratchings. They are my indulgence but I don't think they do my blood pressure any favours. If I look on giving them up as being just for Lent it means I can re-evaluate and see if I was wrong (about them raising my BP) and maybe reintroduce them.

After being on the Newcastle diet since January I don't think I have anything left to give up? Actually I only have a week and a bit to go. I will give up the Newcastle Diet for Lent!!
