Lentils and Sweet potato

I'm trying to find fairly low carb foods and wondered about the effect of lentils and sweet potatoes or is it a case that they might be lower than rice and potatoes, they're still high in carbs?

Feedback would be appreciated. Many thanks,
 
Both seem to be high(ish) carb
Lentils less than rice
Sweet potatoes appear to have more slightly more carbs than potatoes but slightly better fibre and glycemic index

I guess it mat depend on what level of carbs you are looking at and your own tolerances

It’s a bit confusing, I’m not so sure now
the app I use (carb manager) says sweet potatoes are avoid. But it says Lentils are okay, but the internet seems to indicate lentils are higher carb.

I bet more knowledgeable people can say for sure :)
 
The best way is to try them and test but I think you will find that in the case of sweet potato, the clue is in the name
 
Legumes, all peas and beans, seem to affect some more than others.
I find that they seen to have carbs which punch above their weight, so avoid them, and I just don't eat potatoes.
I can eat swede though - and have found that grating it, baking (as it is rather watery it needs to dry out) then mixing it with cream, a spot of pepper or a few herbs is rather too good - I will have to call it 'Vanishing Mash' due to its lack of staying power.

Or because, with me, it gets eaten so quickly so doesn’t have time to lose its staying power
 
I agree that the only real way to tell is to try them and test. I would probably start of quite conservative and have a small amount and see how your body reacts.
