140lbs, need to get back to 150lbs. I was reading reports that people would gain more weight on Lantus than Levemer. Reports state that patients gained more weight on Lantus than with Levemir.Since they are basically the same, Perhaps I should change? Any comments would be appreciated. thanks.

Lantus won't make you gain weight and neither will Levemir...

Furthermore, the two insulins are different - Lantus is insulin glargine and Levemir is insulin detemir. So they are not "basically the same". Sure they're similar in functionality, but they are very different in terms of composition.

Why don't you focus on diet and look at increasing your fat and/or protein intake? Carbohydrates are the other macronutrient which you could increase in order to gain weight, although as a T2 - increasing your carbohydrate intake could cause unnecessary fluctuations in your BG.

Insulin detemir (generic name) Levemir (brand name) is a long-acting, man-made version of human insulin. Insulin detemir works by replacing the insulin that is normally produced by the body and by helping move sugar from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy. It also stops the liver from producing more sugar.

Both are basal insulin formulas. That means that they work slowly to lower your blood sugar levels. ... They keep blood sugar levels lowered for longer than short-acting insulins do.
It is possible that insulin can cause weight gain, although there are ways that you may be able to prevent it. ... Certain types of insulin are more likely to lead to weight gain than others: NPH insulin causes more weight gain than Lantus, for example, and Lantus causes more weight gain than Levemir.
