Few days ago I was prescribed Levothyroxine as blood tests showed thyroid problems. Ive been feeling tired for the last few weeks, so Im happy I found the reason. The problem is I feel awful after taking this medicine. It has been only few days, and my dose is rather small (25 micrograms) but I feel really unwell. Vision problems and dizziness mainly. I find it really uncomfortable and cant really function normally. Its Saturday and I cancelled all my plans and staying in bed at the moment. Shall I stop taking it and book an appointment with my gp or will all the symptoms disappear within few days? Has anyone experienced similar symptoms after taking this medication?

Im type 1, on novorapid and humulin, no other medication

Do you have an out-of-hours gp service that you can ring and ask for advice? Failing that ring NHS Direct.

Hi @ewelina. Is your BG in normal range? I too take levothyroxine and I recall feeling quite terrible in the early days of taking this...one of the side effects is that it can raise blood sugar levels.
If you're worried I would perhaps check with gp or NHS direct...or even your chemist...they're usually quite knowledgable. Hope you feel better soon

It takes 6 weeks to fully enter the system so your symptoms are likely to be totally unrelated to Thyroxine
However, go see your GP just incase

Thank you for your replies Emily and Noblehead. I cant really think what else would make me feel so unwell. Definitely going to see my gp on Monday
