For some time now, my Libre 2 sensor has not been talking to my iPhone via Bluetooth. I reviewed online several potential fixes, such as removing the cache from the Abbott app on my iPhone, but before trying that "fix" and, as a result, losing the 14 days of life left in my current sensor, I decided to set up a call with Abbott. I spoke to a very nice chap who, after going away for a while to discuss with colleagues, returned and informed me that my phone was at fault. After a little more discussion, I discovered that what he meant was that Abbott had not updated the app to work with the latest iOS, which, in my case, is 18.2.1. He went on to say there was no fix; cache removal wouldn't work, for example, and it was simply a matter of waiting for the fix. Boffins, he claims, are "working night and day" on a fix. In the meantime, the only way to get notifications and alerts is if you use the Abbot-supplied reader.

So, all you Libre 2 Plus users, if you have an iPhone and wish to receive alerts, it is back to using the reader for the near (I hope) future.
Manual scanning using your iPhone continues to work fine.

Long time Libre user, noticed that by latest sensors from the NHS are two plus. I still have a few Libre 2 to use up before I move. Is there a new version of the (Android) app going to be released or does it ( as above) "sort of work" with current version?

Hi,

From what I know if you have the latest version of the librelink app? It should work with the plus...

Try to use Juggluco/ diabox. These apps are usually able to read the libre.

I reversed my Type 2
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
I use the Libre 2 plus on my iPhone 14 pro running iOS 18.3.1, via the Libre link app which last updated just before Xmas.
I receive notifications and it updates without needing to scan.

Edit to add, I did have a couple of 2 pluses fail to update last year without scanning, but on phoning Abbott and trying a couple of fixes I was sent replacement sensors.

Further edit, when I looked to see what iOS update I was on I noticed an update available, so now running 18.3.2 and all fine still.

Good versatile apps.

But not technically recognised by the NHS in the UK if HCPs are following patients on Libre account?
(Edit.) also one needs a working Libre account should any faults with the sensor occur logging potential sensor faults with Abbot?

Juggluco/ Diabox can however run alongside librelink.

Juggluco can upload to the Libre account afaiu. Re sensor faults, I simply start mine with the reader. You can also use the librelink app to start a sensor and then disable it to solely use Juggluco if you want.

I was wrong: Despite my last post above, I tried a fix by removing the Libre memory cache and the app from my phone. I reinstalled the app, and now it works perfectly. So much for my call to Abbot, who claimed it would not work. If you have the same problem, it's definitely worth a try.

How to remove Libre memory cache from iPhone?
I ggoled it, this what AI suggested;
To clear app cache on an iPhone 13, you can either offload the app (which removes the app but keeps its data) or delete and reinstall the app (which removes both the app and its data). You can also clear Safari's cache by clearing its history and website data.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Clearing Safari's Cache:
  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone 13.
  • Scroll down and tap on Safari.
  • Scroll down further and tap on Clear History and Website Data.
    • Tap Clear History and Data again to confirm.
2. Clearing App Cache (Offloading or Deleting & Reinstalling):
    • Open the Settings app on your iPhone 13.
    • Tap on General, then iPhone Storage.
    • Select the app you want to clear the cache of.
    • You'll see two options: Offload App and Delete App.
        • Offload App: This removes the app from your phone but keeps its data (e.g., saved games, profiles). You'll need to reinstall the app to use it again.
        • Delete App: This removes both the app and its data, including your saved game progress, profiles, etc.
    • Choose your desired option and confirm.
Important Notes:
    • Offloading an app is the most efficient way to clear the cache while preserving your app data.
    • Deleting and reinstalling an app clears all app data, including your saved progress.
    • Some apps offer their own internal cache clearing options within the app's settings.
