Ah ,ok (shame!).
You'd think they would be just rolling it out by now. I would imagine the unit cost must be around the same.
I was just looking forward to a smaller/thinner unit.
Obviously the cgm is the big advantage for most people. (I know you can do cgm via 3rd party apps on L2)

The biggest issue is there is no reader. You need an up to date phone. And as yet there is no I phone App available in this country.

Odd isn’t it when it’s starting to be rolled out in Europe and the app will come from Abbott?

It’s to do with the technology involved. You have to scam and read 1 and 2. 3 constantly sends the data to your phone so you can just hold it up. Don’t even have to turn on. The difference between flash and CGM. I take it it would be too costly to produce a reader.

Ah. Thank you for clarifying, that makes sense.

So have abbott got the android Libre3 app available yet?

I can see one on the Play store with Android. It’s been about for a while. (I’m in the UK.)

Yes, the Libre 3 app is available to download on the Google Play store UK website and has been for a few months now.

Not sure why there has been a delay in getting Libre 3 app for iPhone available on the Apple store UK website, particularly as German diabetics with iPhones have been able to use the Libre 3 app for at least a year. Assume there must be residual software and/or licensing issues with Apple.

At the moment, however, it appears that very few diabetics in the UK have been offered the opportunity to use the Libre 3 and it looks like that is set to continue indefinitely because of the way the Libre 3 has been rolled out via the same NHS system used for allocating insulin pumps, etc.

It can't be bought privately from Abbott and won't be available on prescription.

Presumably, Abbott can't be happy with this state of affairs either, unless the NHS are paying way over-the-odds for the few Libre 3s that the NHS will allocate to the few patients that get them.

It looks as if getting a Libre 3 will be down to pure chance.

The announcement yesterday that all type 1s are now eligible for Dexcom if they now want it, may set a rocket under Abbott to make Libre 3 competitive for the NHS or they are going to lose ground.
Had a discussion with Partha on Twitter yesterday and it is available to specialist teams only at the moment.
Also contacted research team I was involved with and there is still no App for I phone. So the one I have sitting invitingly in my medical drawer is still useless and now actually out of date.

Yes, it will be fascinating to see what Abbott will do. They seem to have shot themselves in the foot (in the UK at least) by not having a real time cgm offering available on prescription and to buy privately at this time.

And there are no prizes in marketing for coming second.

I would still prefer to migrate to the Libre 3. Having seen videos of the Dexcom One on YouTube, the Dexcom One has extra faff (two hour warm up time, keying in codes, replacing sensors every ten days, replacing the transmitter every 90 days) and there's a lot of extra product waste, which is hardly eco friendly.

I live in Germany and was told by my diabetes team that a reader for FSL 3 would be available later this year (so... really, sometime next year, if ever). The FSL 3 sensors have been available since last year, so the reader is delayed. If it is actually produced, that is.

At 0:46 in this video there's an image of a reader on the front of the FSL 3 box and it says 'for use with FreeStyle Libre 3 app or FreeStyle Libre 3 Reader' (although it might just be a mock up for the video).

Just to clarify, is it Dexcom one that's now available to all type 1's or Dexcom 6?

I sincerely hope that Libre 3 is more accurate and reliable than Libre 2 when it arrives.

In addition Abbott have a lot to learn about customer service. I have been waiting 7 days for 2 replacement sensors and have just been told that due to the large number of orders it will be another 7 days. I do not have any sensors at the moment. The chemist I use is also having difficulty in getting supplies

Utter frustration
