Hi, I was looking into getting one of the libre patch glucose things but i’m not really sure how it works or anything about it. Could anyone help me?

Hi and welcome @T1D.RosieKnowles

You can purchase the sensor and download the Abbott Libre App on a smart phone if you have one, if not get a Libre reader. It doesn't replace your glucose meter as you will still need this for testing before driving or if your feeling off and need to check for a hypo, there is up to a 20 minute delay on readings as it measures the interstitial fluid and not blood. I found it incredibly useful for getting a 24 hour picture of my control and to help make decisions about my ratios and insulin doses. It's also great if you are on your feet a lot and need a quick check on levels without the hassle of a meter test. Knowing what's going with your readings takes the mystery out of second guessing and can provide a lot of reassurance, it's also useful for when you see your DSN/consultant to walk through what's happening and you can email the results to them too.
