After hearing lots about these and after 4 1/2 months of no bread I thought I would try one of them. They had just come out of the oven at Lidl and I just had it with butter and 4 rashers of bacon. Will test after 1 ,2,3 hours and see what happens. Was 5.9 beforehand. Fingers crossed...

I slice them into 4s I had 2 toasted slices with 2 fried eggs this morning before breakfast 5.6 2hrs after breakfast 5.9
Given that I'm no longer taking any medication, that's much better than when I was taking metformin, glimepiride and lingliptin

All hail Lidl :D

@bulkbiker

Ok, I have to go back to bed but I had to wait up for that!

I can just see it when I drag the better half to visit the Old Country. we will get off the plane and she will say ...Where are we off to first Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, Royal Albert Hall, Big Ben...... No Dear we are off to Lidl

ok sorry was out and missed the three hour slot but 3 1/2 hours was 6.5 ... nothing else eaten so not sure why it went up again.. hey ho I must have odd blood.. tum back to normal... so it was ok but not sure I would do it again.. didn't like the bloated feeling and it might be a slippery slope back to bread... which I don't think I can afford to do at the moment.

nice jammy doughnuts with granulated sugar on the outside mmm could sure do that ... used to eat three in one sitting and I wonder why I got Type 2!

Now you've done that test, I'm looking for someone to test their reaction to eating 14 doughnuts and a twirly whirley...

All in the name of Science of course, when can you start

If it's Krispy Kreme's then count me in

I have to say you are all wimps if you can't manage a whole one. With butter.

I mean, half a roll = only half the butter.
See how wonky your thinking is?

Mind you, i would only have half if i peanut buttered it...
Lol. You remind me of the shredded wheat advert...

hmm woke up this morning to a 7.1 .. not a rare occurrence tho and I did have chicken tikka and keema sag last night so not entirely unexpected (6.8 two hours after eating it). I do seem to suffer from dawn phenomenon anyway.. As today is a fasting day let see how quickly it drops off...

I'd say that's pretty good @bulkbiker no matter what insulin I give myself over what period of time I wake up around 9/10 after eating Indian! Don't be hard on yourself :)

well yeah but I deliberately had a v low carb Indian so no excuses.. anyway just checked and at 5.7 now so going the right way..

My old next door niebhour used to gift a large box of 16 Krispy Kreme's every now and then I don't think he got the whole diabetes thing, but he was an area manager for them so at least he wasn't wasting money as my GF isn't diabetic, so not as bad as my other next door neighbour who thoughtfully baked us a chicken pie, knowing full well we are vegetarians.:D

Sounds like you have lovely neighbours!

Had high protein roll filled with Golden Lochy Extra Mature cheese for breakfast this morning. fasting BG 5.2 two hours after roll was 5.6. In micro wave at 700w for 50sec. Just delicious.
