Hi, last Friday 20th May 2016 i was told that i have type 2, on the same day my wife was told she had a type 4 Brain cancer and she will only have 18 months to live, this took the edge of the diabetes diagnoses to be honest, being luck with health and looking after yourself is the most honest thing you can do for yourself, maybe we should all draw from this that someone is always going to be worse off in life, so keep taking the tablets and look positive to your goals, glad i found this site, its given me more than my GP could have :);)

Wow, sorry to hear this, I really am.

Think we all need to take a step back and realise that regardless of how ***** you are feeling at times; there's always someone out there who is worse off.

All the best,
Grant

Sending you and your wife virtual hugs. Devastating news for you. Hope you have lots of friends and family in the real world to support you both x

What a wonderful and yet sad post. Thank you @Vince101 for sharing. My diabetes may be a pain in the *** at times, but I have the chance to do something about it. My prayers are very
much with your wife and I am sure we would all want to wish her every strength to overcome her illness. May she find all the joy and happiness she can in every day and with a strong husband like yourself to support get, I am confident she will find the courage to face the coming months.

@Vince101 please feel free to pop into type 2 life forum for a laugh and support. You're welcome, anytime.
A few of us having difficult times which can support you when bad days are too hard to bear. Life experience can be a comfort.
I'm sure you're imput would be valued too.
We never get fed up of listening! Support is here. :)

So sorry to hear about your wife. I don't know if anyone here has type 4 or any knowledge of it

Sorry to hear about you both being ill. Terminal brain cancer sucks and I am not sure 18 month is a good thing. My late husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer May 18 last year and died two weeks later. We didn't have enough time but a year and a half is a lot of time.

Sorry to hear your news. Kind of puts things into perspective - you have a diagnosis which you can do something about yourself but for your wife that is not the case. Please make the most of each and every day from now on for wife. Like Totto my husband died of terminal cancer. He ended up being diagnosed for a second time with cancer which was then terminal cancer and the best they could say was a shrug and probably 18 months. Unfortunately 7 months later he was gone as it had been particularly aggressive. You are going to be on a pretty big learning curve from here on. By the way you might find the cancer research uk site an invaluable help if you haven't found it already.

There is always someone worse than you but it doesn't always make your own condition easier to handle. This forum can help you deal with your condition (well I've founded it has) to allow you focus on your wife. My thoughts are with it. If you are feeling low there is also a Scream thread on here if you want to have a rant.

How devastating for you both.
Please make as many glorious memories together, while you can.
I have recently taken up photography and it is teaching me that it is the little things that REALLY matter, and are the most precious.

Nothing to say that will help. There are some people on here much more eloquent than me so I'm going to be clumsy. You are both in my prayers and thoughts tonight.

Hello Vince, my heart goes out to you and your wife. May your time together be filled with love, comfort and precious moments x

Try to make the most of every day you have together. Sending you positive thoughts

Hi Vince and welcome. There ar quite a few of us her who have had cancer, some going through it at present. With my total respect, I guess you are talking about stage 4 cancer - we will give you as much support as we can. I had stage 3b, and came close to losing my life, so understand the emotions for those who have it, and those who have to live alongside somebody with a terminal diagnosis.
I had great support from the MacMillan forum for my particular rare cancer, other people who knew exactly what it was like to be going through this. They have a section for terminal diagnoses, both those who have it, and those that care for them - you can be as open as you want there as it is a closed forum, and nothing you can say will shock anyone.

http://www.macmillan.org.uk/ This is the site, you can join and have a look around, it's free. My thoughts and strength are with you and your lady xx

may peace go your way, vince ... and comfort for you and your wife as you go through these very trying times. thanks for sharing. i also appreciate the encouraging messages in this thread. i'm glad found this site. take care y'all.
