Hi Folks, I've had a terrible time trying to login these past few days.
Yesterday was bad enough, but today is the worst I've experienced.
After many times of trying to load the home page, I eventually did
manage to login, but when I tried to load another page everything
simply hung on the screen.
Eventually I gave up trying.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?
If it's just me, then it's possible someone could be stealing some of
my bandwidth.
btw, I'm malware and virus free.

willie.

PS. Hah, clicked the preview option and the page loaded faster this time,
not perfect, but a little faster anyway.
It's like going to the dentist with painful toothache only to discover the pain's
gone as soon as you arrive there. lol
Nevertheless, I'd appreciate discovering if anyone else has experienced similar problems.

Hi Willie :)
I don't think it's just you - other people have been having problems too including myself. The forum seems very slow at the moment at times, which can also cause members to multiple post, but I hope they will be able to sort it out soon.

Hi willie
I've been having problems for a few days I log in off my phone and topics I've read stay there
But they do eventually go am sure they are sorting it out :-)

I am a member of an A7 forum that uses the same forum software. Logging on to that forum is 10 times faster than this one, but most of the time there is only 1 or 2 people logged on.

My machine even stopped a few times in the last few days with a message saying it had timed out. I logged onto the DBUK front page and entered the forum that way. Still slow though. This is not the only site having speed issues. I recently carried out a search for a replacement van on Gumtree and it was taking so long to load each page I had to give up. I reported the problem to them and received a reply saying they were aware of the problem and were trying to fix it.

Sorry Willie, none of that helps you!

Hi Willie,

Just carried out an experiment (does that make me a scientist? can I 'av an 'ology?) I logged onto my A7 forum in 5 seconds. Clicking on a posting loaded it in 1 second. I then came here agin, I always find the site quicker if I have been logged on earlier, this site took 9 seconds to load, this posting took 3.

We're working on it :)

Perhaps it needs some serious fracking

The problems with the forum running slow Giverny began when you introduced the side-bar to the forum, up until then there was never any problems with the speed of the forum loading, it is a pain and a nuisance and must put off people posting or joining the forum.

Needs to be sorted asap :)

The side bar can be deselected if you wish to do so.

Thank you all for your extremely speedy replys, really appreciated folks.

Thank goodness it's not just me then, my mind is at ease now.
But it's a major pain (as many of you have discovered for yourselves)
and as I mentioned, I'd to give up trying at one point.

So it's all your fault I notice, Giverny.
Not to worry, we all still love you. x x :D

irwi60, I found your info very informative.

Thank you all again.

That would be sooo helpful Hobs, thank you.

I looked at my control panel and other pages, but I don't see the option to deselect the side bar.

I've may have overlooked it, but would you direct me to the option please.

willie.

It's the little red arrow in the White box - it toggles on / off each time you click it. You'll know when it works!

Just managed to find the white box nomistheman,
I was looking everywhere other than the side panel.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, good man.

It appears faster now, but hope it's not coincidence. :D

All the best.
willie.

Hey guys, I'm looking further in to what may be making the forum slow for some.

With regards to the 'unread posts' troubles - this is down to a setting that I disabled to decrease server load in an attempt to solve speed issues for people.

Hi Giverny,

It does appear a little faster from my end, I'll know better
in about a week of logging in at various different times.

Keep up the good work, as they say.
