Hey guys, I'm looking further in to what may be making the forum slow for some.

With regards to the 'unread posts' troubles - this is down to a setting that I disabled to decrease server load in an attempt to solve speed issues for people.

I'm finding I'm getting different unread posts at different logins - mainly between work PC and home. Related to the setting you changed

It's annoying as I'm rereading posts but, I can tollerate the loss of functionality short term.

Ah yes that would be because I've changed the way threads are marked as 'read'. It'll save this information as a cookie locally rather than storing the information on the server. This will mean there's discrepancies between multiple computers.

I changed this setting to decrease server load in an attempt to make the forum run a little faster. I'm hoping it'll only have to be a short-term option until we fix our site speed issues.

Was really slow at around 6:30'sh this morning also Giverney.
However, appears a little faster at the moment 18:30.

You're trying your best though and that's very much appreciated, so a huge thank you.
I feel certain everyone affected this past while will have the same thoughts. :clap:

It was really bad around midday yesterday, I gave up trying to login.

2am today.....

35secs to login
35secs to transfer to the Index. (that's acceptable)

But, after 4min's of waiting for a reply post to transfer through.... gave up and logged out.

Strange thing is, the waiting times are not consistent or prone to any particular period within 24hours.

Ha, still in control of your patience? No? well repeat (several times) after me ......

I'm thinking it's a database-related issue. We're planning some db maintenance over the weekend so hopefully that'll make a difference.
