Hi everyone,

My parents are dealing with pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol...but they do not seem to be able to get dietary advice out of their local GP practice. Can anyone advise how I could find a low carb GP, on a private basis if necessary, who is based in London and could explain the low carb approach and monitor their implementation of it and the effects on their various health issues. I have had personal success with low carb for reversing IBS and athletic performance, and general well-being, but, due to their age, I think my parents need to hear it from a doctor too.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

Best wishes,
Emmanuel

Emmanuel, we don't allow members to post doctor's details on open forum, as sometimes comments can be less flattering than ideal. Any detail should posted on open forum will have to be removed.

You could have a look at this link. The Public Health Collaboration have a list of health care professionals around the country. There might be something nearby.

A difficult one. Yes. I was lucky and found a GP that is a LCHF protagonist. On the other hand his practice partner or colleague is obviously not so.

Can I suggest trying different GPs within your local practice in pursuit of getting the right one. How many are there to choose from? We have about 6 or 7 GPs at my surgery. It took me a few months to work out what I needed to know though. Now I know who to book an appointment with when it comes to diabetes related matters. If you are lucky you may find at least one is LCHF friendly.

Thank you for your answers so far. My parents are aged 80 and 75 so a 100% online solution is not great, but we can give it a go. I have written to a couple of the leading low carb GPs to ask for recommendations of London-based colleagues but I have not received a response so far.

Hi there, can you buy them a book?
