An insulated Frio Wallet will keep insulin cool for long enough. What do you do with your insulin on long haul flights? How do you keep it at fridge temperature?
How long do you plan to go away? What do you do with your insulin on long haul flights? How do you keep it at fridge temperature?
Why do you need to keep your insulin refrigerated?
I have taken my insulin on many long haul flights and stayed in places for a couple of weeks with no fridge (e.g. camping in India) and never had a problem.
Frio wallets are a great investment but I have heard of cases where they are not accepted through airport security when "charged" as the gel is considered a potential explosive risk. Therefore, I wait until I reach my destination before soaking them. I would rather have the wallets during my trip and risk up to 24 hours without them in an air conditioned plane.
I keep all my insulin for the trip in my hand luggage and place it in the middle of my luggage to provide some insulation if I am landing in a very hot country.
What insulin are you using that is so sensitive to temperature?Hi. My mum has always used a FRIO wallet but my primary care nurse has told me the insulin that I am not using she be in a fridge type thing and the FRIO will not keep it cold enough for about the 18 hours of travelling? Needs to be kept about 4oC. I have a fridge where I am going so. It a issue.

I have used quite a few over time (I went through a period of trialling different ones) and not found any that are so fragile that they won't last 24 hours out of the fridge.
Insulin can be kept at room temperature for a month. We are going away for 3 weeks
Unless it is left in the sun or allowed to freeze in the hold, I would not expect any problem for 3 weeks.Abasaglar and Humalog.
We are going away for 3 weeks so need to take a lot of insulin with me. As 1 vial is only 4 days for me?
