Hey everyone my brother is 47 and was diagnosed Type 1 2 years ago.
He is a night time HGV driver so he has to check his bloods more often and keep them stable.

What I would like to know does anyone have any problems with their stomach ie:- have severe diarrhea and severe abdominal pain. Mark has asked his nurse to change the insulin he is taking, he has problems with cows milk almonds, linseed.

Could anyone point us in the right direction is he doing something wrong, he is eating food that contain wheat.

Thankyou so much. Claireboo

How long has he been having stomach issues?

Stomach issues can be caused by a number of things - eating something dodgy/food poisonoing (normally wouldn't last long), food intolerance/allergy to something, IBS, some medications (including some antibiotics), probably other stuff I haven't thought of,, I wouldn't normally think that insulin would cause it, but if he has reacted badly to it I guess its always possible.

How long has he been on his current insulin - for 2 years? - if he's had a dodgy stomach all that time I'd have certainly been to the docs already.

Hello @Claireboo welcome to the forum :)

I agree with @Rokaab stomach issues are not usually linked to insulin use, there's many possible issues such as gluten/dairy allergies, possible nerve damage, only a GP would be qualified to check this. How are his blood glucose levels in general, is he well controlled ?
