I would like to know the best and safest way to loose weight as a diabetic. I do not eat much in the way of sweets and chocolate, so am not sure how I am putting the weight. All suggestions greatly received.

It is a common misconception that gaining weight is all about indulgent eating - I had it repeated to me so many times.
The ordinary 'healthy' diet with high amounts of carbohydrates causes me to gain weight at a great rate. I have been like that all my life.
To lose weight I cut out the carbs - works every time.
It has taken some time recently, but eating more fat seems to have sorted that out.

Hi. Yes, sweets and chocolates are just a few of the things in the Carbs group and they all need to be controlled as diabetic. Have enough proteins and fats to keep you feeling full.

The same as a non diabetic would loose weight. Less calories in, more calories out. Diet and exercise.

If you are changing your diet and activity levels as a type 1 diabetic you should be carb counting and familiar with adjusting both basal and bolus insulin to accommodate these changes in food and activity.
