Hi I have recently started going the toilet more often mostly during the day but the last week it has started to be in the night too. At least once. I never go the toilet in the night I generally go a long time with out going the toilet. Last couple of days I have started to be come more thirsty and had a cough that's appeared like I have a dry throat if that makes sense. I work shifts but these have never usually bothered my but recently I'm always tired I could easily sleep 12 hours a night. Another thing is (sorry TMI) genital itching and thrush. I have never had this problem before it come about 3 months ago and is driving me crazy. Been too embarrassed to go the drs up til now. A bit of back ground is my grandad (mums dad) has diabetes and my nan (dads mum) had diabetes when she was alive. I am obese BMI is approx 47. I kne there's no sure was of knowing until I go the drs but just wanted some opinions please. Thanks in advance

These symptoms are not confined to diabetes. Your best option, particularly if you have near relations with the condition, is as you say, to visit your doctor. Don't delay! :D

No-one on this forum is qualified to diagnose you.

It does sound like the sort of symptoms diabetes normally comes with. Before my diagnosis I was tired all the time (this went on for a long time and I was tested for thyroid problems and anemia). I also had thrush that I just couldn't get rid of. As a woman, I'd had thrush before, but it normally cleared up with one or two doses of diflucan, but this time it just wouldn't budge! I also had a horrendous UTI which was probably due to the uncontrolled blood glucose levels.

You really should go to the doctor for a proper diagnosis though. If it is diabetes, you'll start feeling better fairly quickly once you get your bg controlled, plus the thrush will finally go!

Good luck with it all :)
