Hi I have steriod induced diabetes which means when my steriods are low I can just be on one metformin tablet but when my steriods are high I can be on tablets and injecting insulin. I do have to say I have not posted on here b4 but I have been dipping in and seeing what people are saying. Diabetes is not my biggest health problem it dose come towards the bottom of the list. I did look at the 4 week programme diabetes uk is doing on lowing the amount of carbs u are eating and it helps lower blood sugar I read it but was a bit disappointed when it said now go for a 10 min walk big catch there I could go for a 10 min wheel but I don't think that is quite what is meant. I am also a wheelchair user so exercise is out of the question. I hate having diabetes. .I find it boring and very tedious having to do blood usages injecting etc. I can imagine a lot of u are saying what a prat I am. I find it hard to get some healthy care professionals to understand it is not type 2. I did do the Desmond course thing but did not find it very useful. I would like to try the low carbs diet to see if it would help especially when steriods are high. I am not sure it would but would be interested to try. I don't quite understand it all.

Hi I too was diagnosed steroid induced diabetic, like you I have mobility problems and multi other health issues. I was unable to go on tablets as other conditions prevent it, but straight onto insulin....basal/bolus......
Diabetes was a long way down my list too,but since being on this forum I have gained a lot of information and help.....
I have huge weight gain from steroids and other meds, but By listening to the advise on here I have lowered carbs like crazy,it has not unfortunately lowered my weight BUT is has lowered my blood glucose levels......from average of 17-22+ to now down to under 10's ,it's a work in progress.....
I don't know your mobility limitations , but due to mine I've started pulmonary physio....all from my wheelchair.....
There is hope, welcome to the forum.....good luck....
P.s. I was told by endocrinologist that steroid induced can bring on pre disposed diabetes,I was going to get it anyway....type 2 ....
Here's hoping you too get help....

Hi ..nice to know other bods out there..I will try the diet and see if it helps my bloods..see if I can get my head around it ..thanks

Hi @Zip , welcome to the forums.

A lot of the members promote a low carb lifestyle as a method of controlling those dreaded bg numbers.

Hope you get more advice from other members when they come on line.
