Felt a bit shaky before lunch today and tested my blood , it was 3.9
Should it be that low I take 1 x 500mg Metformin Morning and Evening
My GP said I do not need to test !!

T2s should be between 4-7 before eating, so 3.9 might be a little low though some T2s on here are ok with figures like that.
If you are feeling shaky maybe just have a biscuit or a bit of chocolate to raise your bg a bit.

Sounds fine to me but if you're not used to being down there the first few times can feel a bit odd especially if your body is used to higher numbers.

3.9? Technically a hypo, it affects different people differently, as already recommended, a bit of carb or if needed glucose tablets. Metformin shouldn't in itself cause a hypo but I have experienced a hypo while taking Metformin. On that occasion it was probably down to no breakfast and a whole morning of grass cutting and weeding flower beds.
You GP is WRONG, unless he/she knows how to see how good your BG control is for the 9 months not covered by an annual HbA1c. Or how to confirm a suspicion of low blood glucose or a high for that matter.

I'm absolutely fine on low numbers, and always have been. I was a bit spooked the first time I saw a 3.7, I think it was, before bed, so did as you have done and asked here.

If I get very low, it's most usually as I'm about to eat, in whichever case, I just carry on and eat, which deals with it. If I make not about to eat, I just have a cup of tea, with a little milk, which just nudges the numbers up a bit. I don't do anything sugary.

I won't bother saying what my numbers are, because they're totally unimportant to you, in this context.

Unless it is dangerous to do so, I think the best option is just to sit down and let your liver do its job, it is unlikely your body has had to cope with low BG for some time hence is not used to responding.

Let remember that a reading of 3.9 in a home meter could easily be anything between 3.5 and 4.5 on a different meter or even a different drop of blood on the same meter.
