According to your profile you are not on medication causing hypos, is that still right?

Can it be you had a 'false hypo', which means you feel awful because you're lower than you're used to?

And to answer your question, yes there are pens, but they are to be used by someone else if you are unconscious and they are not nice.
As long as you're awake it's much easier to just eat or drink something sugary.

I order glucose by the box load of amazon and have them scattered everywhere. Car almost every room in the house, stables, gym bag, lap top bag. Instead of a pen you might want to have sachets of glucose. As was said you don’t want to really on an injection route as it would normally be the paramedics using there own if your in that state. If your unconscious needing an injection your defo having a bad day.

Do people really use sweeteners for hypos? I wouldn’t have thought it common so as the entire aim of them is to replace sugar (glucose). That said I do know for a fact some calorie free sweeteners raise blood glucose because they are mixed with stuff like maltodextrin so perhaps that explains my own question. Wouldn’t think it’s the best of sources even so, but I guess in times of need….

an epi pen is adrenaline (aka epinephrine) not glucose, or do you just mean a similar delivery method?

I was thinking a sweetener meant sugar? In which case that would be fine. If @Sparklebrightisright62 means artifical sweeteners, then no, it's not going to do much to increase her blood sugar.

But really @Sparklebrightisright62 you need to do a blood test if this happens again, so that you can see whether it's actually low blood sugar or a false hypo or something else altogether. Depending on your current medication, it could be a hypo though, which is why @Antje77 asked about your medication.

If you are on glucose lowering meds then it's probably best to keep some glucose (or equivalent) to hand. I like glucotabs because they don't taste particularly nice so I'm not tempted to eat them when I'm not hypo. :)

Glucose powder seems to be in short supply now , I tried several pharmacies recently and they all said they haven't had it for ages , one told me that drug dealers are mixing it with drugs to make it go further and that is why they don't sell it any more , i tried amazon and they were out of stock and finally went to Holland and Barrett were they had some so I bought three boxes , it's handy to keep around the house and car for emergencies .

Honey is perfect for treating a hypo.
But do test your blood sugar when you feel you might have a hypo to make sure, otherwise you might just be raising your blood sugar when it's already high!
