my morning reading is always 4 or lower . if you did spike it how high does your blood sugar get ? i cant get mine over say 8 even if i eat say a family size cake and 4 bowls of icecream and 3 choc bars. ect not that i eat like that but did try it once to see if i could get my blood sugar very highYou are a normal person!
You have a condition that probably isn't diabetic. I'm not!
My bloods at fasting are between 4-6 mmol. I don't want to spike after eating so I don't eat anything that spikes me. So I stay in control , between 4&6mmol, si don't hypo and I feel great and have a lot more energy, better sleep pattern, no mood swings etc.
If I did and I have spiked my spike is high and the reaction is slower than yours then I hypo after about 4 hours.
I do have meds to help me but they will have to be prescription drugs, no over the counter stuff!
If you are sick and fed up with with feeling **** after eating than stop!

Ok yes that mixed first meal of eggs (protein) and porridge(carbs) and banana (high carb fruit)the odd thing in all this that it does not always go rite down after eating my first meal of the day is 4 eggs with a bowel of porridge and a nana a then some water . say i had this about 8am my blood suger will go up to say 6.2 max then will be back down into the 4.2 range by 12. that sounds normal. but later on there are times not all the time that after i have eating it has gone down very fast after eating then this happends its always late afternoon to tea time and it does not always happen. the lat time i did was few days ago my blood was 5.4 i had tea then before i went out after about say 15 to 20 mins after the meal in was 4.2 i think when i was out i had the glucose machine with me and at about 12ish i was 3.6 i woke up in the morning it was 3.4 i had me first meal as it went to 6.1 the first meal of the day seems to give the most stable blood sugar for the longest time. just thought i would point that out if it mattters or not i dont now am new to all this.
let say you did spike your blood sugar .how low will it go when you got hypo and how long does it take from spike to hypo ?

Hopefully small portions! Probably digested very slowly. Which helps to slow down digestion, so you wouldn't spike so quickly, therefore your blood sugar level remained constant and didn't drop as quick.
I'm not sure why it didn't end in you in a hypo but because you ate again probably that's why!
Controlling your levels is important, until you see your doc, keep eating very small non carb meals. I eat meat and salad a lot. Lots of eggs, omelettes. Fish is good. You can have quite a bit of variety, it's not so bad when you get used to it.
Listen mate, your in a bad place, I will help you through this. I had years of misdiagnosis and battles you wouldn't believe. Just try not eating of only eat very low carbs and get your bloods back level. Then after a while you won't feel so bad. It's the fluctuating bloods that causes the bad symptoms.
Do yourself a favour.

i see so if you didnt have this issue and you went for this test what would be the out come as in what patten would the blood sugar for some one who didnt has this ?My last oral glucose test at the hospital, pre fasting test, 4.2. After glucose half hour 10.4, 1 hour 11.2, hour & a half 12.4, 2 hour. 11.6, two & half hour 8.7, 3 hour 7.4, 3& half hour 6.6, 4 hour 4.3, 4half hour 3.1 test stopped as I would have gone down more. My meds have increased dosage since but I won't do carbs and sugars simply because of the symptoms.
You seem to drop quicker than me, so even though you are different in that respect, you will still need to do what I do when I feel ****.

The first was called an OGGT test, oral Glucose test, it just sees how you are with high glucose and they take bloods for all the different conditions that the symptoms dictate, such as the many forms of diabetes.the first meal seems to be the same every day i wonder if i just had that for every meal every day for a week and see if it stays stable like the first meal of the day. i do eat a lot of meat i have to say. the fist meal will get me from 8 to 12 and feel fine. i will go the docs am ringing them in the morning what test did they use on you to work out you had this ?

I've had a mixed meal test, which they keep an eye on your levels for a couple of hours, but it was the 72 hour fasting in hospital that convinced my specialist and confirmed his thinking that I had reactive hypoglycaemia!
My bloods never went above 4.2 all through the test!

4 eggs - very good. No carbs.
bowl of porage - a bit risky; some people can cope with porage and others can't. You don't say what you have with it. Sugar or syrup is bad. Stirring in some double cream is far better than milk, even more so than skimmed milk.
banana - I think this is very risky - it is concentrated carbohydrate and most T2s here will struggle to cope.
Alternative suggestion (which really depends on what you like to eat):
4 eggs
rashers of bacon
fried tomatoes and mushrooms (if you like that kind of thing)
fried sausages (as long as they are over 90% pork)
steak (I trawl the reduced counter at the Co-op for reduced steak)
Alternatively make an omelette with eggs and cheese.
Then through the day snack on protein snacks.
cold chicken breast
sausages rolled in bacon (one of my favourites - cook loads in the oven then have them cold)
(you can roll the chicken breast in bacon as well)
cheese
ham
(cheese wrapped in ham)
I think your idea of repeating breakfast is a very good one because if you have found a meal which keeps you stable then that gives you something you can rely on until you get sorted out. I would lose the banana, though
Pester your medical team repeatedly until they understand what is going on and give you good, solid advice.

i see what you are all saying my only issue is my job it very active indeed i have not been to work now for a few months i work for my self, there is no way on this earth i could do it with a low carb diet i could see this working great if you had say a office job,
due to being on the move all day non stop burns a lot of you. sitting a down all day would burn a lot lessWhy?
