Low carb but high protein?

Hi, I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetes just 2 weeks ago.

I have read and re-read all the information I have been given, and also many of the topics on here. So, I decided that it seems eminently sensible to cut down on the amount of carbs I eat, to lower my glucose levels. As I'm still in the pre-medication stage, certainly until I see the diabetic nurse in two weeks time, I'm just using diet and a small amount of exercise to try and reduce my levels.

However, one thing does strike me, that a lot of people on here who have lowered the carbs in their diet, also seem to eat a lot of eggs, meat, bacon etc? Surely this would raise cholesterol values?
It seems that I have to try and reduce my cholesterol levels, as well as reduce my calories AND try a low carb diet.... all 3 seems to be pretty hard to balance out somehow.

To be honest, just two weeks in, I'm finding this quite hard, as all the usual foods which many diabetics seem to use to feel 'full' I am not supposed to eat...ie cheese, eggs etc.
I already was on a pretty healthy diet before I was dropped the bombshell of diabetes, as I have other health issues, no sugary drinks, very few biscuits or goodies, although I admit I did eat bread and pasta, so I'm currently on a pretty low calorie intake.

I really would appreciate any suggestions from others on a low cholesterol diet

Well ive just had my diabetic clinic app for first time as my BS r high or so im lead to believe mainly over 11 up tp 24 but they didnt seen that bothered. Gave me yet more pills 2 new meters etc. Then saw dietician who went on to tell me tl not v low carb not to much protein as bad for the kidneys and to stick 2 1600 calories a day carb intake 130-200 gs a day! My worry is that i no that amount of carbs will keep levels high but she said new meds will help that! Low carb diets rnt gd for the body or brain she said!
