My bgs tend to be higher in the evening. My explanation for this is the idea that I don't produce a lot of insulin, and by evening I have used it all up. Then my small store of insulin is replenished during the night, but it is not large enough to last the whole day. Eating VERY low carb does seem to help a bit, which supports my theory, but I can't say if it is correct. When I found out I was pre-diabetic about 4 weeks ago, I went straight onto a low carb diet (around 30g/day). I lost 2 kg quickly but then last week I’ve lost nothing at all although my clothes are looser which is great.
My blood glucose reduced to under 6 throughout the day but the last 2 days I have had higher readings and usually before dinner in the evening. The only ‘naughty’ food today was a small biscuit ( about 4g carb) and still within daily carb goal.
I guess this could mean I can never have even a small ‘treat’ occasionally :-( is that how it is for you guys??
I find that when fasting my bg goes up a bit. I don't fast for long so overall I feel the small temporary rise in bg is OK for me because I need to lose weight. When I found out I was pre-diabetic about 4 weeks ago, I went straight onto a low carb diet (around 30g/day).
