Low Carb Experiment - interesting finding

I've made an adjustment to my day to day activities and how I handle that with my Type 1 diabetes. This past summer I started replacing my higher carb meals with lower carb meals and then combine that with a power walk usually averaging 5 KM. This always resulted in low BGs when all was said and done - like between 2.8 and 3.3 which would make me feel terrible for the first part of the afternoon.
So I started decreasing my lunch time shot and each time - still the same thing low BGs. So today I didn't give a shot - I had hummous, carrots, red peppers. Did the 5 KM walk - just tested myself and I'm 5.1 - we will see where I'm at in another hour but this experiment has been encouraging - now if I can just do that this winter - unlikely ....

Fingers crossed that you make some headway.

One of the amazing things I have discovered especially about walking is after every meal, you do a fifteen minute brisk walk fifteen minutes after the meal and you will discover that your blood glucose levels are infinitely better if you don't go for a walk.
Walking is the best type of exercise if not in control of your blood levels.

2 1/2 hours have passed since my light carb lunch - tested again and unfortunately I'm up to 9.2, looks like the best approach here is to just delay the time I give my shot so it reacts at around the same time as when my BGs increase - although having said that - for me - a Type 1 - 9.2 isn't all that bad as long as it stops increasing. I'll wait another hour and likely give myself a couple of units of humulog to get it back down if it's still going up - All told I'm fairly pleased about this - if I can repeat it a few more times then I'll make it a habit.

Hummus spikes me like crazy. Maybe try a more protein and /or fat based lunch like egg salad with mayo or avocado or some nuts.
Looks like the lunch may have been missing the fat and protein element to balance things

My BGs ended up staying at 9.8 - ended up giving myself 3 units which will take care of things. I think more fat would have helped - I'll have to try it again with a few adjustments - at least I stayed within the single digits :)

What was your other lunch that you hypod at?
As they say, it's a work in progress!! Certainly seems adjustable though.

Been away for a few days - vacation - the other lunch I hypod at was a spinach salad - mostly green spinach with an egg, some diced almonds and a few dry cranberrys but not many ....
