Have to disagree with that statement Bio, its the carb reduction that helps the bg levels but it is calorie reduction that helps with weight loss, if you reduce carbs and increase fats you will stall your weight loss if the overall calories are higher or remain the same. This is why so many people who lchf can not loose weight. To loose weight you need to eat fewer calories.
By reducing carbs and not increasing fats you will loose weight and reduce your bg levels as well, as I and many others have done, and once you are happy with your weight you can either increase the carbs slightly, you will find you are less insulin resistant after loosing weightor you could if you so wish keep the carbs the same and gradually increase the fats in your diet to a level where you stabilise your weight but too much fat is just as bad as too many carbs, fat has twice the calories of carbs so make sure you get the balance right, low carbing will never be an excuse to eat as much as you like, and those who do will never loose weight.

When I started on low carb, I didn't increase meat & fat. i have about 5-6 stone to lose.i have even gone to see about having a gastric band but i was told that i wasn't fat enough to have it.

If that's what works out fur you yes, just check labels if you do buy any low fat products, as to make up for being lower in fat they add carbs and other nastys.

Low carb - low fat is either a starvation diet or excessively high protein. It won't work, & would be very unbalanced. Happily most protein food come with associated fat - cheese is about 30% fat, nuts 50%, meat varies & should not be trimmed. I use ground/powdered nuts in place of flour.
