One of my patients has been asking me about some of the products available from the LCM - specifically the pizza base mix and a lemon muffin mix. As I have no experience of using these products, just wondered if anyone has had them and what effect they had on BG levels?

Thanks

Hi Mrs P.

I've tried a few things from the LCM and I find the more they try to taste like the high carb original the worse they taste!

I am using with quite a bit of success a product called Carbolite (I think, can't remember, too lazy to walk into the kitchen to find out). It's a flour substitute. So far so good. It's easy to use, gives really good results and doesn't send my BS high. I even made Yorkshire puddings with it. A bit cakey but delish. Yesterday, I took some raw cauli, dipped in egg then the Carbolite and then deep fried. Also delish.

Other products are more complicated to use. One 'pie crust' mix involved pushing the dough onto a bit of cling film, spreading it out carefully, transferring it to a pie dish, pushing it onto the dish............ I lost interest after that.

My main purchases from the LCM are the carb free noodles, Dreamfields, sweets, wraps, tomato sauce and some Atkins bars.

Sorry Mrs. P., I use lowcarmegastore for some stuff, but I've never tried either of those things.
