Low Carb Query

I know Jack... But when you are not a big eater of anything... Even a fat bomb is a lot.
Although I am a higher fat taker now, I know its still not up to myfitness pal recommendations everyday because of the fat/carb ratios I have and calories from working physically.
I will get there with higher fat but just want to also see the effect on my cholesterol..2nd coconut oil coffee this morn!!

Thanks Jack. I do try to have more healthy options of fat and protein too with my eggs, salmon, cheese and meat etc but there is only so much that I can eat of that food!! So a little coconut oil will push up my fat calories a little more and easy to put a dollop into my coffee!!

Your advice appreciated greatly...

Hello everyone on this Low Carb diet. I haven't been for a while as My Mother died middle of Sept and I have been coming to terms with her loss. As for the Lump in throat feeling - almost gone! I have put it down to less or no stress now Mum has gone. I have introduced more carbs (potato, brown bread, pasta, noodles in very gradually with little or no bad effects. I eat a bit more good meat (sirloin steaks twice a week). More cheese. Oatcakes. lots of nuts continuously - love them. Full fat milk on porridge in a.m. cheese on everything - scrambled egg, soup, wheaten bread. I take half a Ensure topped up with full fat milk = twice a day (yum). I have put some weight back on slowly so will keep at that. BS readings have been good 5/6 in morning rising to 10/11 after 2 hrs. Take a drop to 4/4.5 in afternoon if I forget to snack but I can deal with that. Bed earlier than before which is helping my mood. Sticking with the low carbs - it has worked well for me. Good luck everyone.

I have been feeling better for the past few weeks and although the acid reflux is still there it isn't so bad. I have re-introduced one potato at dinner each night (wonderful) and have upped the fats as recommended by lots of ppl on here. More cheese, cream etc. Have put on about 7 lbs and I am up to 9st now. Happy with that but would ideally like to add a further 7lb. Energy level good. GP reduced Gliclazide to 2 per day and see here in 2 weeks again to see if it needs to be reduced more. Off to Google "fat bomb" now lol. Thanks for continued help.

I have just spent time reading through the Low Carb debate but wasn't allowed to post on that Forum for some reason - hence the new thread! Almost everyone is trying to lose weight while bring BS readings down. I am on the low carb diet because I have developed a problem with acid reflux when I eat most carbs. As a result of cutting these out of my diet (potatoes, any bread or crackers) my readings haved dropped drastically but my problem is I am losing weight. I am 5ft 6ins and previously weighed 9st 7lbs but now after only about 3 months on this diet of practically no carbs I am down to 8st 7lbs - too light! The only carbs I can eat without pain in my throat from acid reflux is porridge but I can't give that up or I will really lose too much weight and I don't want that. Also I am still taking the meds but probably would need to reduce them as readings are much lower now. At 10pm tonight it was 4.9. Then I had a small portion of porridge and at 11pm reading was 10.9. Will check again at midnight and see what it is after the 2 hrs. What can I eat that will put on some weight but not affect BS readings? Help needed please. Thanks

Yes I agree Jack. It has been ingrained into my brain - avoid fat and sugar. It is also hard for me to take when I meet some people and they greet me with "have you lost even more weight?" I would never comment negatively on anyone's weight - either over or under weight - so why do people do that? I have been through a stressful time and I really don't need the nasty comments. These ppl as a general rule are usually overweight. I am a gentle person so usually end up explaining things! But that's a different issue lol.
