Low carb snack bars

I made the mistake of buying some grenade bars as a snack. These are low sugar, but use maltitol as a sweetener which is almost as bad as sugar for spiking blood glucose.

So I am now looking for some keto friendly snack bars which won’t ruin my blood sugar levels. What would people recommend?

I found a few keto bars searching on amazon ....

* Misfits Vegan Protein Bar - contains xylitol
* Pulsin plant based protein bar - contains xylitol
* Adonis keto bar - contains erythritol

Has anyone tried any of these?

Have to say I haven’t- I’ve had the occasional grenade bar and it doesn’t affect my BG at all, i have to confess they aren’t something I’m into or use on a regular basis. When I’ve had the grenade bars it’s been when we’ve been travelling and I can only eat half of one at a time, they fill me up for ages

I have tried the Adonis ones and I like them and they don’t raise my BG, I also have the Eva Bold ones (contains Erythritol) and again no issues with BG. I avoid anything with Maltitol in it (and Xylitol as I have a dog and it is highly toxic to them and don’t want to take any chance).

One of the last protein bars I tried before decided to give up on these altogether was Pulsin Choch Fudge & Peanut Keto Bar. I quite enjoyed it, felt quite rich and chocolatey, but texture might not be for everyone. This bar was very kind to my BG as well.

The Eva Bold keto protein bars contain erythritol and stevia. Some people find that erythritol upsets their digestion, but it may be worth finding which ones you can tolerate.

I rarely use them but if do I like the Adonis ones and no impact on my bgs.Edit I also do well digestive wise with erthyrtol.

You can make your own protein bars. I do. As everything tends to contain gluten, and I cannot tolerate it I make my own. The gluten free ones tend to contain figs so I don’t eat those. Making your own means you can add what you want.

I would feed the deer in winter with bags of apples. I had so many apples I tried to be creative with them. One year I ground up all the apple cores up, minus the pips as they contain amygdalin a chemical that releases cyanide when in the gut. I added seeds, nuts and whatever. Quite enjoyable. There are a number of recipes on Google, you can just tailor the ingredients to suit.

I have to admit i'd avoid Grenade bars if you can, they contain so much rubbish they can't be good for you at all, I make my own using rice crispies, desiccated coconut, ground flaxseed, smooth runny peanut butter, maple syrup if you need some sweetener and flatten all that into a shallow dish then pour melted dark choc over the top, then pop into the fridge to set, dead easy and they last well too.

Sounds good but I’d want to find lower carb subs for the rice crispies and maple syrup as a diet controlled T2. Maybe some finely chopped nuts, a suitable sweetener if needed and possibly egg??? as the binder. I’m sure I’ve got some recipes stashed somewhere waiting for an inspired kitchen day

I occasionally have the Kind nut bars (but do check individual labels as the macros vary across flavours and sizes and they are Always changing the recipes) or the nut bars from Lidl and Aldi (same caveats apply).
They are useful for travelling or when better lc food isn't available

I have ordered some Eva Bold and Adonis bars from amazon. Both these bars use use erythritol, so should have minimal impact on blood sugars.
Delivery same day, so should get them today.

Tbh the sweetness comes from the dark choc and you can reduce the crispie content with use nuts instead ground a little or chopped, it's a good one to just get inspired, i'd avoid the egg unless your baking them though

Have you tried the Keto Hana bars, I have the Keto Granola as a snack or in my protein smoothies. Does not spike, worth perhaps giving a go Also cheaper but not cheap if you know what I mean, off their own website.
